Beat the S&P With These 5 Shareholder Yield Champs

BALTIMORE (Stockpickr) -- Dividends are great, don't get me wrong. But there's a different metric that investors should be focusing on this year: I'm talking about "shareholder yield." There's a shareholder yield smorgasbord happening right under investors' noses in 2013, and you won't want to miss out.

>>5 Rocket Stocks to Buy as Mr. Market Climbs

Shareholder yield focuses on measuring all the different ways that a company can return cash to its shareholders. Yes, that includes dividends -- but it also includes share buybacks and paying down debt.

In a nutshell, shareholder yield is made up of moves that directly return cash or equity to your portfolio.

Any of those three corporate actions can unlock significant value for shareholders, and the data backs it up. According to research by Cambria Investment Management CIO Mebane Faber, shareholder yield historically generates bigger returns than dividends alone. Much bigger returns.

>>5 Stocks Ready for Breakouts

The names that offer the heftiest yield aren't always obvious. While Microsoft (MSFT) made big headlines when it announced its $40 billion buyback and dividend plan yesterday, the tech giant ranks at #74 on our list of stocks with the highest shareholder yields. Today, we're focusing higher up on the list.

With low interest rates and record levels of cash sitting on corporate balance sheets, management teams are looking for the most effective ways to return value to shareholders. It's not one size fits all, either – the best mix varies from company to company. But by looking at the trifecta of dividends, buybacks, and debt extinguishment, you can be sure that you won't miss out on any of the proceeds.

>>5 Stocks With Big Insider Buying

Here's a look at five names that have provided superior shareholder yield in the last year.

AOL

First up is AOL (AOL), the unlikely $2.6 billion Web services stock best known to many investors for its days as "America On Line." But a lot has changed at AOL since then. Today, AOL is primarily a content company, with a collection of sites that includes the Huffington Post, Advertising.com, TechCrunch and StyleList. While subscriptions are still a part of AOL's business model, they dropped to less than a third of revenue in the most recent quarter. The rest comes from advertising on AOL's content sites.

>>5 Tech Stocks Spiking on Unusual Volume

Despite the exceptional luck in timing its re-entry to the public markets just a few months after the market bottomed in 2009, investors have been slow to warm to AOL. After all, the firm's legacy business has crumbled, and its new business is crowded. But nevertheless, AOL has executed well. The firm is profitable despite its much-reduced scale, and it's done a good job of establishing defensible moats around its niche web properties.

AOL sports a stellar balance sheet, with $483 million in cash offset by just $105 million in debt. That's nearly $5 per share in net cash -- a hefty component of AOL's valuation right now. That's been helped out by the firm's efforts to hike shareholder yield through massive buybacks and dividends.

That adds up to a huge 44.3% yield on AOL's current share price, giving this online content company top billing on our list today.

Mondelez International

Like AOL, Mondelez International (MDLZ) is a spinoff stock. Mondelez is Kraft's former snack business, a $35 billion annual enterprise that suddenly started trading under a very new name a little over a year ago. The Mondelez name may not be very familiar to most consumers yet, but its brands should be: the firm owns names like Oreo, Cadbury, Trident gum and Ritz crackers.

>>5 Breakout Trades to Take Ahead of the Fed

Unlike most diversified food companies, Mondelez has some big advantages in the snack food category. For example, private label competition is less invasive than in staple foods. That takes huge pressure off of the firm's margins, especially in a market where input costs are providing pressure enough. Emerging markets hold an attractive opportunity for Mondelez because the firm is already so deeply entrenched in them; developing countries already contribute 40% of the firm's total sales today.

MDLZ's spinoff unlocked a lot of value for shareholders -- and much of it remains on its balance sheet. As I write, MDLZ sports $2.5 billion in cash as well as a very tenable $18 billion long-term debt position. Mondelez has been hitting its debt load hard in the last year, wiping out almost half of its obligations on top of a "modest" $2 billion dividend payout.

Mondelez hasn't had any trouble prioritizing shareholder value in 2013. While this stock isn't cheap, it's got a lot of open runway in front of it too.

Hewlett-Packard

It may be surprising to see Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) on a list of stocks that are paying out the highest shareholder yield. After all, HP has gotten a reputation for destroying shareholder value after debacles such as its $11 billion Autonomy acquisition. But, in fact, HP has been dishing out shareholder yield by the fistful, offering investors a 17.6% value boost in the last 12 months.

>>Why Wall Street Got Apple Wrong

In a lot of ways, HP's missteps and massive spending on dividends, buybacks and debt extinguishment are related. The firm entered 2010 with more than $13 billion in cash on its balance sheet, and it needed to find a way to generate a meaningful return on that huge pile of loot. Unfortunately, it would have been better off just handing it back over to its shareholders in the first place.

Even so, Hewlett-Packard has been doing a very good job of moving from the commodity PC business over to services, hardware, and software for enterprise customers. Today, that business adds up to 45% of HPQ's total sales; PCs are just 30%. Filling in the balance are printers, which offer a high moat huge margin business for the firm, even if they're typically lumped with PCs for reporting purposes.

Sure enough, HP could justify a second look this year.

Target

Target (TGT) operates in a tough industry with bigger rivals and very few competitive advantages. But that hasn't stopped the $40 billion retailer from a cascade of higher sales each year -- and thicker margins to boot. It also hasn't stopped Target from paying out a sizable 9.4% shareholder yield.

>>5 Stocks Under $10 in Breakout Territory

Target runs nearly 1,800 big box stores spread across North America. Together, those locations added up to more than $73.3 billion in sales last year -- as well as 4% net margins. To be clear, those are hefty levels of profitability for a mass retailer. In a business where one store is basically the same as the next, Target has done a great job creating a niche as a slightly more upscale big box chain.

The addition of fresh grocery sections to stores over the last several years has done its job of drawing customers into stores, but Target never saw the margin deterioration that most analysts were expecting as a tradeoff. As a result, the firm has had enough room on its balance sheet to significantly reduce its debt load in the last year and leave more value for shareholders, not lenders.

Target remains a best-in-breed retail name right now.

Las Vegas Sands

Las Vegas Sands (LVS) is a stock that's outgrown its name. Today, less than 15% of the firm's revenues actually come from Vegas -- the rest comes from Asia, thanks to a portfolio of big-ticket properties in Macau, Singapore and Cotai. But wherever those sales come from, they're funding some substantial debt reductions and dividend payouts in the last year. All told, LVS has paid out an 8.6% shareholder yield in the last year.

LVS owns the Sands, Venetian, and Palazzo names, as well as a Four Seasons franchise in Macau, laying claim to a handful of the most successful casino resort brands in the gaming industry. Sands has a winning recipe for building gaming properties around the world. As gambling becomes legalized in more and more spots around the world, that international success should do very well for LVS. In Sands' existing properties, it enjoys big barriers to entry. For example, casino megaresorts cost billions to develop, and in crown jewel locations such as Macau, competition is limited to the few firms that can grab one of just six licenses to operate casinos in China. LVS owns two of them.

Global discretionary spending should help spur growth in LVS -– even in Las Vegas. Chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson owns more than 50% of Sands, a fact that puts management's interests in line with shareholders, and all but guarantees big shareholder yield payouts in the future. Earnings on Oct. 28 could provide the next hint at this stock's willingness to rewards its owners.

Asia Banking on Big Data

Asian banks are moving aggressively to offer new cloud solutions, creating proactive and personalized customer experiences by establishing essential infrastructure and services in the Asia-Pacific region in Japan and Singapore.

Oracle's Enhanced Customer Data Centers in Asia

2013 will bring more movement for data centers as hardware vendors work to round out their converged data center offerings via continued M&A activity. "We are dedicated to simplifying IT, so customers can focus on driving business innovation," said Oracle President Mark Hurd. More than 25 million users and more than 10,000 organizations use Oracle Cloud worldwide each day.

Worldwide revenues from cloud infrastructure services reached US$12.5 billion in Q4 2012 and US$47.2 billion for the full year. Synergy data showed regional spending on IaaS and PaaS passed the US$1 billion mark in 2012, having grown by 55 percent from 2011. Oracle's shares plunged nearly 10 percent on March 21 after its fiscal Q3 results released late the day earlier missed Wall Street expectations and company outlook. IBD reported that Oracle executives mostly blamed poor sales execution for the miss. The industry as a whole closed the day up 0.1 percent on April 8. By the end of trading, Oracle Corporation rose 33 cents (1 percent) to $32.36 on light volume. The stock ranges in price between $31.90 and $32.36.

Top 10 Oil Stocks To Watch Right Now

Banks direct relationships are accurate to better understand their customers through big data. Even more so that they are typically more advanced vs other industry sectors. Good Innovation Models can come about in analyzing customer experience, customer behavior; which for a bank can reach across millions of their direct consumers through its channels of Mobile banking, ATMs, call centers, corporate websites and retail branches. This all has the ability to detect triggers in internal proble! m areas for banks which there analytics can lead to new model implementations, customer profitability.

Investors should also continue to watch evolving trends and big data growth returns of a company's new products and technologies. There are also huge opportunities in re-writing client-server applications to run on cloud stacks and, in building and managing, a new class of smaller, cloud-compatible data centers.

This 'Hated' $6 Billion Cash Machine Is Selling For Cheap

When a publicly traded company makes money, who is the first to get paid?

Imagine a line of people waiting in line on payday. They include the company's creditors, employees, preferred shareholders and of course, the government.

Like it or not, as a common shareholder, you're the last in line.

You don't get paid dividends until everyone else has been paid.

And this is why free cash flow (FCF) is such an important valuation metric when analyzing a business.

StreetAuthority's sister site InvestingAnswers.com defines free cash flow as "a measure of how much cash a business generates after accounting for capital expenditures such as buildings or equipment."

And here's why it's important:

The presence of free cash flow indicates that a company has cash to expand, develop new products, buy back stock, pay dividends, or reduce its debt. High or rising free cash flow is often a sign of a healthy company that is thriving in its current environment.

Furthermore, since FCF has a direct impact on the worth of a company, investors often hunt for companies that have high or improving free cash flow but undervalued share prices -- the disparity often means the share price will soon increase.

Let's look at a company that matches up perfectly with these criteria.

Over the past 12 months, JPMorgan Chase (NYSE: JPM) has generated $6.7 billion in free cash flow. This equates to $1.77 per share.

That's quite a turnaround for a company that lost $38 billion during the financial crisis in 2008.

Did the biggest bank in the U.S. (by assets) learn anything from its devastating experience in 2008? According to CEO Jamie Dimon, it did.

The man who analyst group Morningstar named as its CEO of the year in 2002 says JPMorgan emerged from the crisis a much stronger company.

In fact, between 2007 and 2013 management has doubled tangible book value per share. Since 2008, earnings per share have risen like clockwork, from $1.37 to $6 today.

The company's operating margins are stellar. Over the past 12 months, the company has reported an operating margin of 33%.

And right now, with a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 8.5 and a price-to-book (P/B) ratio of 1, the company is inexpensive. This is despite a solid gain of 25% over the past year.

The company pays a dividend of 2.5%, backed by a low payout ratio of only 21%.

However, JPMorgan has been in the headlines recently, and not for reasons investors like to see.

The company has offered to pay $3 billion to settle criminal and civil investigations by federal and state prosecutors into its mortgage-backed-securities activities.

This scandal follows the "London Whale" losses sustained in 2012, when JPMorgan's Chief Investment Office lost $2 billion on a series of transactions involving credit default swaps. The chief officer responsible for the mess has since stepped down.

So what are we to make of JPMorgan's management?

On one hand, JPMorgan's management team has doubled book value since 2007 and tripled revenue since 2003.

On the other hand, some members of management have made terrible decisions, resulting in billions of dollars in losses due to bad derivatives trades and government fines.

The problem may stem from its size. The company manages more than $2 trillion worth of assets in dozens of countries. Economics of scale help JPMorgan compete by offering rates and services that smaller banks simply can't compete with.

But this same size makes the company much more difficult to manage, and the resulting headaches caused by far-flung managers making bad decisions could continue to plague the company.

Still, the current negative sentiment and bad press has resulted in the company's stock selling for cheap. For the investor who is willing to stomach the risks, buying shares of a financial juggernaut like JPMorgan at a price even to book value may be too good to pass up.

Risks to Consider: The banking industry is subject to significant regulatory and macroeconomic risk. While JPMorgan is more conservatively governed than some of its peers, the financial crisis of 2008 proved that even institutions of its size are subject to dramatic shortfalls when the U.S. economy stagnates or dips into recession.

Action to Take --> For contrarian investors looking for a bargain, JPM rates a buy at today's prices. Once the current litigation is resolved, the company should continue to do what it does best -- generating enormous free cash flow at impressive margins.

Home Run: Hovnanian’s Earnings Lift Homebuilders

Hovnanian Enterprises’ (HOV) earnings report was ho-hum–but more than enough to lift the stock and other homebuilders.

Reuters

The Wall Street Journal reports:

For the period ended July 31, Hovnanian reported a profit of $8.5 million, or six cents a share, down from $34.7 million, or 25 cents a share, a year earlier. The year-earlier period included a $36.5 million income tax benefit and $6.2 million in debt-extinguishment gains.

Revenue jumped 24% to $478.4 million.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters recently expected per-share earnings of seven cents and revenue of $505 million.

Adjusted home-building gross margin rose to 20.3% from 18.2%.

The initial reaction to those numbers was ho-hum as well, as Hovnanian’s shares opened down 0.2%. Still, it didn’t take long for investors to realize there were more to them a simple earnings miss. Hovnanian predicted a profitable year for the first time since 2006, for instance, and it also helped that CEO Ara Hovnanian was feeling pretty good during the company’s conference call. Comments like these (courtesy of FactSet):

…we’re confident that the any hesitancy our consumers have seen or felt or acted with the higher rates will be a temporary bump in the road to housing recovery.

Our confidence is bolstered by analysis of long-term home ownership affordability…Even though there’s some sticker shock for consumers with the recent increase in mortgage rates and the increase in home prices, we’re still very comfortable at the affordability levels compared to historic standards.

Even if the 30-year mortgage rates were to increase 100 basis points to 5.4%, and if home prices on top of that went up another 6% from the June 13 levels…affordability would still be better than at any point in the period [from] 1975 through 2007, notwithstanding the current two-month record high affordability  levels.

Combine that with an ever-so-slightly lower 10-year yield and you have a recipe for a housing rally. Hovnanian has gained 2.8% to $5.18, but that was nothing compared to other gainers today. PulteGroup (PHM) has jumped 8.1% to $16.73, MDC Holdings (MDC) has risen 7% to $29.59, D.R. Horton (DHI) has climbed 6.6% to $19.30 and the Ryland Group (RYL) is up 5.9% at $37.98.

The question now: Can the sector build on those gains?

(Sorry. I couldn’t help myself.)

Getting To Know The Stock Exchanges

Top 10 Value Stocks To Buy For 2014

A stock exchange does not own shares. Instead, it acts as a market where stock buyers connect with stock sellers. Stocks can be traded on one or more of several possible exchanges such as the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Although you will most likely trade stocks through a broker, it is important to understand the relationship between exchanges and companies, and the ways in which the requirements of different exchanges protect investors.

How Does It All Start?
The primary function of an exchange is to help provide liquidity; in other words, to give sellers a place to "liquidate" their share holdings.

Stocks first become available on an exchange after a company conducts its initial public offering (IPO). In an IPO, a company sells shares to an initial set of public shareholders (the primary market). After the IPO "floats" shares into the hands of public shareholders, these shares can be sold and purchased on an exchange (the secondary market).

The exchange tracks the flow of orders for each stock, and this flow of supply and demand sets the stock price. Depending on the type of brokerage account you have, you may be able to view this flow of price action. For example, if you see that the "bid price" on a stock is $40, this means somebody is telling the exchange that he or she is willing to buy the stock for $40. At the same time you might see that the "ask price" is $41, which means somebody else is willing to sell the stock for $41. The difference between the two is the bid-ask spread.

Auction Exchanges - NYSE
The NYSE is primarily auction-based, which means specialists are physically present on the exchange's trading floors. Each specialist "specializes" in a particular stock, buying and selling the stock in the auction. These specialists are under competitive threat by electronic-only exchanges that claim to be more efficient (that is, they execute faster trades and exhibit smaller bid-ask spreads) by eliminating human intermediaries.

The NYSE is the largest and most prestigious exchange. Listing on the NYSE affords companies great credibility, because they must meet initial listing requirements and also comply annually with maintenance requirements. For example, for U.S. companies to remain listed, the NYSE companies must keep their price above $4 per share and their market capitalization (number of shares times price) above $40 million.

Furthermore, investors trading on the NYSE benefit from a set of minimum protections. Among several of the requirements that the NYSE has enacted, the following two are especially significant:

Companies must get shareholder approval for any equity incentive plan (for example, stock option plan or restricted stock plan). In the past, companies were allowed to sidestep shareholder approval if an equity incentive plan met certain criteria; this, however, prevented shareholders from knowing how many stock options were available for future grant. A majority of the board of directors' members must be independent. However, each company has some discretion over the definition of "independent," which has caused controversy. Furthermore, the compensation committee must be entirely composed of independent directors, and the audit committee must include at least one person who possesses "accounting or financial expertise." Nasdaq (an Electronic Exchange)
The Nasdaq, an electronic exchange, is sometimes called "screen-based" because buyers and sellers are connected only by computers over a telecommunications network. Market makers, also known as dealers, carry their own inventory of stock. They stand ready to buy and sell Nasdaq stocks, and they are required to post their bid and ask prices.

Nasdaq has listing and governance requirements similar to the NYSE. For example, a stock must maintain a $4 minimum price. If a company does not maintain these requirements, it can be delisted to one of the OTC markets discussed below.

Electronic Communication Networks (ECNs)
ECNs are part of an exchange class called alternative trading systems (ATS). ECNs connect buyers and sellers directly. Because they allow for direct connection, ECNs bypass the market makers. You can think of them as an alternative means to trade stocks listed on the Nasdaq and, increasingly, other exchanges as well (such as the NYSE or foreign exchanges).

There are several innovative and entrepreneurial ECNs, and they are generally good for customers because they pose a competitive threat to traditional exchanges, and therefore push down transaction costs. Currently, ECNs do not really serve individual investors; they are mostly of interest to institutional investors.

There are several ECNs, including INET (the result of an early 2004 consolidation between the Instinet ECN and Island ECN) and Archipelago (one of the four original ECNs that launched in 1997).

Over-the-Counter (OTC)
Over-the-counter (OTC) refers to markets other than the organized exchanges described above. OTC markets generally list small companies, and often (but not always) these companies have "fallen off" to the OTC market because they were delisted from Nasdaq.

Some individual investors will not even consider buying OTC stocks due to the extra risks involved. On the other hand, some strong companies trade on the OTC. In fact, several strong companies have deliberately switched to OTC markets to avoid the administrative burden and costly fees that accompany regulatory oversight laws such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. On balance, you should be careful when investing in the OTC if you do not have experience.

There are two OTC markets:

Over-the-Counter Bulletin Board (OTCBB) is an electronic community of market makers. Companies that fall off the Nasdaq often end up here. On the OTCBB, there are no "quantitative minimums" (no minimum annual sales or assets required to list). Companies that list on the OTC Pink are not required to register with the SEC. Liquidity is often minimal. Also, keep in mind that these companies are not required to submit quarterly 10Qs. Summary
To be traded, every stock must list on an exchange where buyers and sellers meet. The two big U.S. exchanges are the NYSE and the fast-growing Nasdaq. Companies listed on either of these exchanges must meet various minimum requirements and baseline rules concerning the "independence" of their boards. But these are by no means the only legitimate exchanges. Electronic communication networks are relatively new, but they are sure to grab a bigger slice of the transaction pie in the future. Finally, the OTC market is a fine place for experienced investors with an itch to speculate and the know-how to conduct a little extra due diligence.

Top 10 Cheap Companies To Invest In Right Now

Outerwall (NASDAQ: OUTR  ) began trading on Tuesday, but it wasn't an IPO. This is the newly rechristened kiosk operator that investors have known as Coinstar for years.

Coinstar's namesake machines exchange coins for merchant gift cards, and its larger Redbox business rents out DVDs, Blu-rays, and video games at cheap nightly rates. The transformation to Outerwall isn't just a matter of slapping on a new corporate moniker. Outerwall also announced on Tuesday that it's acquiring ecoATM.

Outerwall already had a 23% stake in the automated kiosks that pay cash for smartphones, tablets, and iPods. The machines can assess the condition of the device being submitted and fires back its best offer. This should be a great way for the company to offset the slowdown in its once-growing Redbox business. It's also one that can't be pushed toward obsolescence as media distribution goes digital. Consumers still need to hardware to make it happen, and along comes ecoATM to give consumers an easy way to unload their older gadgetry.

Wendy Maeda/The Boston Globe via Getty Images NEW YORK -- Walgreen is moving 120,000 employees to a private health insurance exchange from coverage provided directly from carriers, the company will announce Wednesday. The pharmacy chain will join 17 other large employers on the Aon Hewitt Corporate Health Exchange as part of a growing movement to offer employees fixed dollar amounts to purchase their own plans on such exchanges. The end-cost to employees depends on the plan chosen, but they typically get more options than under traditional arrangements. Private exchanges mimic the coverage mandated as part of the Affordable Care Act. Enrollment in the public exchanges starts Oct. 1. "What happens to employer contributions over time? Will they put in as much as they put in the past? These are unanswered questions but potential negatives," says Paul Fronstin, a senior research associate with the Employee Benefit Research Institute. The benefit to Walgreen and other employers is unknown at this point, as their cost-savings aren't clear. Of the 180,000 Walgreen (WAG) employees eligible for health care insurance, 120,000 opted for coverage for themselves and 40,000 family members. Another 60,000 employees, many of them working part-time, weren't eligible for health insurance. Aon Hewitt (AON) says other participants in its program include retailer Sears Holding (SHLD) and Darden Restaurants (DRI). These new additions raise enrollment to 330,000 from 100,000 last year, and Aon Hewitt estimates enrollment will jump to 600,000 next year, a fivefold increase from 2012. By 2017, nearly 20 percent of employees nationwide could get their health insurance through a private exchange, according to Accenture Research (ACN). A recent report by the National Business Group on Health said that 30 percent of large employers are considering moving active employees to exchanges by 2015. Other major providers of private exchanges include Mercer, a division of Marsh & Mc

How the Most Boring Word in the World is About to Make People a Fortune

If you're an investor, there's a term you need to know: Big Data.

Data - just the word itself - is the most boring abstraction in the world. The meaning of the word "data" itself is, well, meaninglessness. That's the point.

Data is incoherent stuff with no relation to anything.

So, what is "Big Data"?

"In the technology world, the term 'Big Data' refers to large arrays of data, raw and unstructured, whose sheer size and type make them practically impossible to process and analyze with existing database technology," explains Money Morning's Defense & Tech Specialist Michael Robinson.

And Big Data is about to make a lot of people extremely wealthy...

How Big is Big?

A mind-blowing 2.7 zettabytes of data existed in our digital universe in 2012. A zettabyte of data is the total found in 62.5 billion iPhones - a stack that would go from the Earth past the moon.

This data comes from billions of sources, like the 5 billion people calling, texting, tweeting, and browsing on mobile phones worldwide in 2012, the 571 new websites created every minute of the day, and more...

The amount of data in 2012 grew 48% from 2011, and will jump even more in 2013.

Harnessing all this data can result in some pretty amazing things.

"The answers to our grand challenges lie in the patterns that big data discovers and the answers it provides," said Robinson.

Analysts say the big data sector will dwarf the $160 billion cloud computing industry. It will also be put to use in nearly every aspect of our lives.

"I break it up into seven main markets big data will impact in a huge way: governments, defense and security, business, cloud, health care, surveillance, and science," Robinson said.

Editor's Note: Big data can especially impact the healthcare market starting with this one tiny device that has the power to end all disease. It's quietly been cleared by the FDA. But it can't stay quiet much longer. And according to industry experts, it's going to create $7 trillion in new wealth. Click here to see it for yourself.

Here are just a few ways it's already transforming these industries...

Big Data in Action

In January, Earth Networks SM, operator of the largest weather, lightning, and climate observation networks, announced new storm warning technology at the 2013 American Meteorological Society Annual Meeting.

The tech uses big data to transform how and when people receive warnings about impending storms. Analysts say it will speed up storm warnings by 50%.

Also in January, we heard about how a new big data-based technology called ShotSpotter has been impacting crime-fighting. ShotSpotter can locate the source of gunshots with pinpoint accuracy and details.

"This is the most valuable tool we've gotten in a real long time," Police Sgt. Kevin Medeiros said of ShotSpotter in an interview with The Herald News. "This is up there with laptops (computers) in the cruiser, guns and pepper spray."

The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA) is also using big data to design and improve its aircraft.

The company used a big-data computer to model airflow over the wings of its 787. The simulation ended up validating and improving several of Boeing's aerodynamics codes, saving the company time and money, and possibly influencing the process by which next-gen Boeing aircraft are going to be designed and manufactured.

Even smartphone users have felt the ripple of big data.

Shazam is a mobile phone application that combines music-recognition software algorithms and a database of millions of songs to help you identify and organize digital music.

You turn on Shazam when you hear a song playing, and it will identify the song name, artist, album, lyrics, discography, and more, in the span of about 15 seconds.

Shazam and ShotSpotter highlight how important wireless tech is to realizing the full potential of big data.

That's why Robinson describes big data wireless tech as "a giant global network of networks."

"As the developing world embraces wireless technology, every human on the planet will create oceans of data," Robinson explains. "We are walking, talking data machines with trillions of lines of code - from our DNA to our music, photos, games, and everything else that's digital."

And these trillions of lines of code will turn into trillions in profits...

How to Invest in Big Data

To invest in big data, you need to pay attention to two key areas:

"Big data needs two essentials to take off," Robinson details. "One is really good algorithms."
Algorithms are the programs that will crunch the data into relationships and patterns that we can use.

"You can't see them, touch them, taste them or feel them, but they're everywhere in our tech-driven world," says Robinson of algorithms. "They're running everything from auto pilot systems, to robots, to running super computers that can beat humans at complex games like Jeopardy. And they play a big role in the investing world as the 'geniuses' behind black-box trading."

The second essential is where the real money-making opportunity is going to be; Robinson describes it as an absolute must for investors...

In fact, one of these devices is now estimated to grow in sales from $11.1 billion to $7 trillion in the next two and half years. That's a 63,000% increase.

"That's how new moguls are going to be made. It's just too big, too obvious, and too splendid to ignore," says Robinson.

Robinson has seen a lot of tech breakthroughs over his 30 years as a leading analyst. But he's never seen one as big as this new big data breakthrough.

It's about a new device that could end all disease. If you want to be a part of this $7 trillion opportunity, we'll show you how to get started today...
